Amiri Law Firm is honoured to welcome the International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference to Toronto from November 2 – 7, 2025. The IBA Annual Conference is the legal profession’s leading global event, bringing together legal professionals from around the world to connect, learn, and grow. Our team at Amiri Law Firm has been an active participant in IBA events, and we are excited to support our international colleagues in making the most of this year’s conference in Toronto. We look forward to helping attendees navigate conference participation, travel, and visa processes with the personalized attention that defines our firm.
The IBA Annual Conference stands as one of the most influential gatherings of legal minds, attracting participants from over 130 countries. The event draws leading lawyers, judges, academics, policymakers, and corporate counsel from around the world, making it the premier global platform for advancing the rule of law. It is a space where legal professionals share innovative ideas, exchange best practices, and engage in critical discussions that drive the future of the legal profession. In a rapidly changing world, the conference plays a pivotal role in shaping legal frameworks, promoting human rights, and addressing the global challenges facing the legal community today. As such, it is not just an event but a cornerstone for the evolution of international law.
Amiri Law Firm P.C. is proud to be part of the 2025 International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference, underscoring our dedication to upholding the highest legal standards and advancing the global legal profession. This involvement reflects our commitment to promoting international collaboration, facilitating dialogue, and shaping the future of legal practices on a global scale.
The Founder and Managing Counsel, Shiva Amiri, is deeply honoured to support the IBA’s return to Toronto. As an officer of the IBA Human Rights Law Committee, she contributes insights on Canada’s legal landscape and the unique perspectives of Canadian legal professionals. An accomplished advocate in family law, immigration, and human rights, she brings an invaluable viewpoint that emphasizes justice, equity, and the protection of vulnerable individuals and families across borders.
On November 5th, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., we will host “The Veto”: Film Screening & Dialogue on the occasion of the IBA conference. We will be presenting The Veto by Tim Slade, a powerful documentary that examines the United Nations Security Council’s use of the veto power, its historical impact, and the urgent conversations around reform. Through compelling interviews, historical footage, and expert analysis, The Veto explores how this mechanism has shaped international responses to crises, raising critical questions about justice, accountability, and the future of global governance.
The event will be held on the site of St. Paul’s, Bloor Street, an iconic heritage monument at 227 Bloor Street East in Toronto. Completed in 1913 by architect E. J. Lennox in the Gothic Revival style, it is designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act for its cultural and architectural significance. The venue’s historic character and cultural prominence will provide a distinguished setting that enhances the significance of this evening’s dialogue.
